4 - "To thine own self be true." Stars!I absolutely adored The Kiss Before Christmas, it was one of my favourite seasonal reads of December 2013, so when I saw that Sophie Pembroke, had written another seasonal novella, featuring another member from the same family that appeared in The Kiss Before Christmas I did a little Christmas dance of joy!"I've been patient for almost a year."Molly and Jake's story features one of my most favourite themes, in that Jake is Molly's brothers best friend, havi [...]

I am loving all the Christmas stories around at the moment, and this is no exception. Its romantic, festive, and uplifitng. It definitely left me feeling that warm happy feeling, But it's also very touching, both from a loving family perspective, but also from following two people who obviously really care about eachother but both unsure. Molly has moved to London and is about to go home for the family Christmas and new year. We meet her at the office drinks and telling her friend, under duress, [...]

More reviews at losttobooks I was so glad to see this author bring out another Christmas novella as I loved The Kiss Before Christmas last year--I really can't believe that was a year ago! Anyway, this lived up to everything I expected and is probably the most festive read I've read so far this year. The story was perfect. It was sweet, heart-warming, touching, and an all-round enjoyable read. I loved the family aspect and how close they were together. In not sure of this will make sense but it a [...]

First posted on Dreaming with Open EyesI kindly received The Kiss Before Midnight in exchange of an honest review by the publisher via NetGalley.Readers, I am honest with you. I had not a very good start with Sophies writing this year. I read Room For Love, which was published with Carina UK in May. The book wasn't bad, just not much cup of tea. If you fancy a look, you can read my review here. So you might think, why did I bother to read another book by her? It's very simple. I rarly give up on [...]

Will she be able to convince Jake that they are meant to be together?Does Jake really like Molly as much as she does him? What will happen to Molly and Jake when they meet on Christmas? The Kiss Before Midnight was my first book by Sophie a [...]

I am a sucker for a beautiful cover and when I saw this on Netgalley for review, I knew I had to request it. Lately I have been in a reading slump. I think my busy life has got to me and I have found it hard to keep my focus when it comes to reading, this is not great when you read lots of books! I have read many stories set at Christmas time this year, but I think this is one of my favourites. What I loved about it is that it is classed as a novella, it is relatively short at just over 120 page [...]

SynopsisThe end of the year is vastly approaching and Molly Mackenzie only has one more of her resolutions to complete; she wants one night of passion with Jake, the best friend of her older brother Tim.Since their cheeky kiss at the previous year’s New Years Eve party Molly hasn’t been able to get Jake off her mind – moving two hundred miles away from her home in Liverpool to the nation’s capital did nothing to assuage her feelings. This year he is determined to finish what they both st [...]

This was a brilliant festive read. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the moment I started it and despite it not been remotely like Christmas outside I forgot it wasn’t the festive season. It was beautifully written and had me gripped from the moment I started it. I read the first couple of chapters on my lunch break and could not stop thinking about it until I was able to read it again when I got home. The characters were so likeable and easy to connect with. I could just imagine exactly the relati [...]

Mollie MacKenzie can't wait to go home for Christmas. She's left Liverpool to work and live in London, but she misses her friends and family. She also misses Jake, her brother's best friend. After a wonderful kiss they haven't spoken to each other for an entire year. Jake's part of their family, he's like a second brother, but is he really or is he more than that? The Kiss Before Midnight is a fun and festive holiday story. In this short, delightful Novella, Molly and Jake examine the feelings caused by a kiss last Christmas. Jake has always been an important part of Molly's family and has always treated her like a little sister until a growing attraction last holiday season left them reevaluating their place in each other's lives. This Christmas Molly plans on getting Jake out of her system and Jake unsuccessfully plans on ignoring Molly altogether. I loved the focus on family and I enjoyed Molly's realization tha [...]

What a charming, festive novella! I haven't read the first in this series, The Kiss Before Christmas, something that I must remedy ASAP, but it's not integral to understanding and enjoying this installment.I loved the MC Molly, she was a girl after my own heart at 23, struggling to be a grown up, fulfill expectations. And I'm a sucker for a forbidden love affair - Molly is terribly preoccupied by her "near miss" with big brother's best friend Jake last NYE. Funny, romantic and sexy - I devoured [...]

In this Christmas novella, Molly has just one thing left to cross off on her yearly to do list. Sleep with Jake, her brothers best friend and the person she had a close encounter with the previous New Years Eve. Having moved from Liverpool to London, Molly hasn't seen him since, and wonders if he has been thinking about her and their kiss together as much as she has all year. With the next family Christmas approaching, Molly decides to find out!I loved this sweet romance story. It is full of gre [...]

With 2014 coming to a close, I was in the mood for something cute, light, and SHORT. The Kiss Before Midnight was a lovely mix of Bridget Jones’ Diary and The Holiday. Based on the title I did expect this book to be a little more NYE focused and less Christmasy but it worked out ok in the end. Molly and Jake’s chemistry was wonderful and I enjoyed the amount of sexual tension between the two of them. Maybe next year I will pick up the novella that features Molly’s sister and her boyfriend. siblings always took her for a flake. So the year she finally moved out and got a job in London on her own merit was supposed to be the year of her dreams. Instead, Molly spent the year thinking about family friend Jake, and the kiss he shared with her last New Year's Eve. Jake spent the year thinking about it too. It was so much fun to watch Molly and Jake dance around the kiss they shared the year before. Sophie Pembroke wrote in the perfect amount of flirting, holding back, candor, humor, and [...]

good story. What happens when you can't stop thinking about a kiss from a year ago. Jake & Molly have both had the same problem, they can't forget the kiss he stole last New Years & now Molly's made a resolution to get another & possibly more this year. But Jake is worried because he doesn't want to lose the only family he has left & if something goes wrong between them he could not only lose Molly but his best friend her brother & the rest of her family who've taken him into [...]

I'm not usually one for the Christmas romance kind of story but this one really does stand out from the rest. The way that the story is written really makes you feel for the characters and the chemistry between them is clear once the awkwardness is out of the way. I was really rooting for Jake and Molly to get together as the relationship between them seem to be special from the very start of the book.

What a great book to end the year with. Loved it from start to finish. Really felt part of a cosy family Christmas. Molly was an endearing main character who I was rooting for to find love. Her whole family was a joy to read about. Would highly recommend and can't wait to read more by this author.

As far as Christmas novellas go, this hits the spot on so many different levels. It’s not just set at or around Christmas – we’re also treated to all the delightful festivities such as the putting up of the Christmas tree, the masses of mince pies, the snow and the pressies and of cours [...]

This is the second Christmas romance novella by Sophie that I’ve read this year, even though Christmas has passed! It follows on from The Kiss Before Christmas which was all about Dory. It’s set the Christmas after Dory’s story, and is about her sister Molly. This is a classic case of falling for the older brother’s best friend but the best friend being reluctant to act on his feelings because of misplaced loyalty to the older brother. In that way, it’s a predictable read but the journe [...]

I really enjoyed this story, and I wish I'd read it earlier. I had requested it on NetGalley late last year, because it sounded like a short festive read (and that's exactly what it was) however it disappeared into the abyss known as my 'to read list' and would have remained there if I hadn't set about clearing my growing NG dashboard! The romance was adorable and I loved seeing Jake and Molly coming to terms with what's really going on between them. This was a pretty cute read, I like books set during the holidays and I really liked Molly's family! The thing that I was shaking my head at a bit was that everyone is an adult in this book and they kept making things unneccesarily hard for themselves. Also, I really didn't get why Jake kept doubting that Molly's family wanted him there, as they kept telling and showing him exactly that. But they were cute together and I always love holiday antics, but they lacked a teeny bit in the chemistry de [...]
