This was a great book and to be honest so much happened I wouldn't be able to explain everything anyways, lol. So you have to read it. It was a great and a different take on the shifter world. We found a lot about what they're about but I feel like there's a lot more that we're going to learn. I'm ready for the next book. It really was great.

Original Blog Post: Blog Tour, eARC Review & #Giveaway: Protector Of The Alpha (Shifting Needs Book #1) by Parker WilliamsI have lost count the number of shape-shifter, paranormal stories I have read but I remain a true fan. There is nothing like a good paranormal read, especially when the only aim for the day is to relax. Protector of the Alpha is a shape-shifter story with a twist. The expectations of the readers over how the usual story develops and the how the usual characters are going [...]

I was over the moon when I heard that Parker Williams was writing a paranormal shifter story. Parker and I do share a giant love for the genre, so I couldn't wait to see what he'd bring to it. The world he's created is fascinating, weaving many known tropes, along with new ones, into a tale that's not to be missed. 'Protector of the Alpha' is book one in his 'Shifting Needs' series, and I, for one, loved it and can't recommend it enough.I'll give a warning, now, in advance. This is going to be a [...]

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCEThere I was looking for something to get me over a reading hangover and this dropped into my inbox. I love shifter stories so bumped it to the top of my reading list and ended up not putting it down until 3am. YES, it was that good! The first thing I must say is the world building is fabulous. There are all sorts of historic events that lead to the way the story enfolds and you learn it all as the MC’s do as they have no idea of what is going to happen to their l [...]

The prologue of PROTECTOR OF THE ALPHA grabbed my attention immediately and the book ended with "Where's the next one!?!"The premise is ingenious, the characters are engaging, and for a girl who reads a lot of paranormal romance, this one really hit the mark!My OFFICIAL REVIEW will be posted on Carly's Book Reviews

When I asked for this book I did not realize it was YA. (My opinion, the blurb does not lead you to believe these are young MC)Or just out of that categories depending on where you feel the age stops. These characters are 19. To me that is YA, I don’t read anything with MC’s that young. So the only reason I contained on was because this was a review book, and I was obligated to. Having said that, I did enjoy this book, and my personal predigests aside I give it a strong 4 This one has three [...]

A Joyfully Jay review. 3.5 starsI liked this one. It’s a story of overcoming the odds and choosing your own path regardless of what’s set ahead of you. The romance is a slow build, which is appropriate for the new adult range this story finds itself in, though I do wish there would have been just a tad more speed to it. I wondered at one point if the story was even meant to be a romance with Jake and Zak butting heads for over half of the book. Although once the romance comes into play it’ [...]

sois was my first shifter book and i cannot tell you how much i loved it. (it helps that jake shifted into a panther which is my favorite animal ever)ese 3 boys (college age) - jake, zak and casey - knew they were special and different but they didn't know why. as they discover their lot in life each of their strengths becomes obvious to them and those around them. zak was not my favorite. i didn't like the way he treated jake even after finally admitting his interest. it was near the end of the [...]

No. Just no.It was painful to get through the first 60% of the book. After that I started skimming. I don't feel like I missed anything.Ugh, where to begin. Paper-thin characters, cookie-cutter plot, poor pacingI think I knew it was all over 23% into the book with this passage:It was as if he was seeing Zak through new eyes. The sinew of his neck begged Jake to bite, to mark. The breeze fluttered through hair that called to be brushed, to feel the silky strands trailing over Jake’s body. His c [...]

3.75***Very different take on shifters here. and yes, it was. esting. Waiting on the next book to see if this is an author I'd like to continue to explore. I NEVER warmed up to Zak. At. All. He was demanding, bratty, insulting. stilted. But for some reason, I fell in love with Jake! Grin. As with the last few books I've read, it seems to me the authors are rushing things just a bit, it feel as though I'm MISSING something. Maybe I just need to expand my little Ole brain and imagine where I'm [...]

Three stars for the Trio! This is my first book of this author and I enjoyed it. Liked the concept. Loved Casey's carefree attitude and bringing humor into the scenes. I adored Jake and Zak, their romance and their bond. The building of their romance took many pages sometimes so much that it nagged me at the back of my mind. Their first meeting ignited possessiveness and ownership in Jake and I thought the claiming will not be far behind. But I was surprised with the way their bond works they we [...]

In Parker Williams self-pubbed New Adult novel, something weird is happening to college student and star athlete Jake Davis. His usual focus is shattered by a weird smell that puts him on edge. He can’t get it out of his mind, and he feels he’s being watched, which only makes the edginess worse. Nightmares invade his peace of mind. Jake’s best friend Casey tries to reassure him, but it would help Jake more if Casey would just move out of the dorm and live with him in the house his adopted [...]

This is book one of a new series. I will say the first quarter was a bit slow yet interesting. It introduced you to the main characters and set up the premise of the story and Series. Jake, and Casey have been best friends since they can remember. Jake is very protective of Casey and vice versa. We find out a little about Casey’s family, basically that his Dad is an @$$. I would have liked to have known more about Jakes adoptive parents other than they give Jake a lot of money and also pay for [...]

If I could rate this book 10 stars I would! The characters and the plot are exquisitely drawn. Zak is so formal and speaks in an unusual cadence, never using contractions. His body has an invisible personal space bubble around it that he considers sacred and will not hesitate to tell people that they have no right to come close. In spite of Zak constantly pushing everyone away, Jake is inexplicably drawn to him. Jake is a football player, popular with everyone, but all he wants is to take care o [...]

While usually not being one to read young adult books, this one was flawless with the storyline to transition over to an adult read seamlessly. Original review on Molly LollyFive stars!Loved this book. Just flat out loved it. I enjoy paranormal books, especially shifters. But Parker took most of the common aspects of a shifter story and turned it on it’s ear. Like the fact that Jake didn’t KNOW he was a shifter, or that shifters even existed. I enjoyed that Zak and Jake didn’t fall into bed together right away. Zak initially kept trying to push Jake away at first, but it winds up backfiring. Jake thought he had done something wron [...]

Interesting but clunky and badly in need of a good editor. I'll give it 2.75 stars.I did find the premise interesting and the plot had potential but the writing was choppy, clunky and at times the head hopping was confusing. My biggest problem with this book is that neither Zak or Jake fought agaisnt the roles that were given to them. The moment Zak was told "oh hey you're an Alpha and the ruler of our people" he was all power tripping immediately. No shock, no anger, no disbelief, just quiet acceptance. And to me that was completely unbelievable and the moment I checked out of this one. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad book or anything. I probably would have settled for a three or three point five had there been [...]

Jake + ZakSet: Minnesota, AlaskaI was so happy to finally start reading this book but it didn't really work for me. The first 120 pages were really slow and boring, while the last part was hasty and the story approximate. The ending resolved too quickly and without many troubles. One thing I liked is that it wasn't your usual shifter book. I liked the concept but it didn't live up the expectation. I'm still going to read the next one in this series.

When I started reading this book I thought this book feels like a introduction. I thought "Don't tell me, but Book One is going be a slow paste intro!". It didn't start to pick up speed in till Hakiim first arrives Jake's homes. That about half way of the book. After that it got better. To the point that you want to read the next book. I just hope Book Two doesn't take half the book to do a intro.I also cannot wait to read about Casey and shifter Shunk.

I love the premise of this book, the pace, and the characters all of them. I like it that the shifters in this world need the balance of humans. I like the slower dynamic between Jake and Zakiya. The total involvement of Jakes friend Casey is inspired, and I cant wait for his enlightenment in the next book. Absolutely anyone who loves shifters will love this.
