Interesting read. Taught me a lot about plaque - there are two kinds, one more dangerous than the other. Also about the "New Cardiology" and recent techniques in assessing/treating cardiovascular disease. These two doctors believe in supplements as well as exercise and eating your vegetables, and medical Rx as necessary for those who need it. A lay person can understand their book. They explain what HDL and LDL do in the bloodstream and how LDL is not a "bad guy" until it gets oxidized by free r [...]

Good book, but can be a bit hard to follow. This is based on the subject matter. If this is something you are familiar with then you should be okay. I consider myself knowledgeable on this subject and I still had to go back and listen to a few areas again. This is one book where you might want to have both the Audio and paper versions available for better understanding.

Really liked this book. My cholesterol has been creeping up over the last year. Doctor just prescribed a statin. Dr. Sinatra has an interesting take on cholesterol levels and that inflammation is highly responsible for cardiovascular disease. He provides an integrated program of vitamins, diet, medication, exercise and stress relief.

I picked up this book following my husband's heart attack and feel very armed with information for him to take to his next cardiology appointment. I learned a lot, and especially loved this cardiologist's approach to a combination of eastern and western medicine.
