The death of a wine critic is welcomed by some but not by the newly arrived winery owners in the vineyard where his body is discovered. Personal and professional reasons emerge why various people are glad to see the back of him. But what about his poor family? Oops, mixed feelings there too. So we find plenty of suspects. I like the New York State wine setting as most of the American vineyard tales we read are on the West Coast. There are some nice atmospheric details which will suit those wanti [...]

A Taste for Death was an intriguing murder mystery set in the Finger Lake wine district in New York. Louis Deville, the French detective with a mysterious past, adds a flare to the story as he sorts out a tangled web of romance and murder in the Finger Lake vineyards. The story is filled with interesting characters and I suspected them all right up till the end or until they too were murdered. A page turning read. I’m hoping for a sequel.

I do like the story I'm a crime story fan. Halfway through I thought the ending might end up anti climactic but the author did end up tying it all together. I CANNOT stand a book with poor grammar. This was to the point of spelling a main character's name wrong, using "win" where it should have been "wine" and other generally poor grammar (incomplete sentences, punctuation, etc.) I was a trooper and finished but those types of things are so distracting for me. I'd give the next book a try if it [...]

The worst book I've gotten from NetGalley yet. It's incredibly boring with no flow and it is in desperate need of a proof-reader. I began to wonder if the author was ESL. The plot moves slowly and I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't picture the characters as there was little to no description of them. I thought the saving grace might be the author's wine knowledge (why write a mystery book about a winery if you don''t have a plethora of wine knowledge to impart?) but if Stevens possesses any [...]

I liked this book. I like the mystery behind the main character's life and most of the other characters. I also liked the setting of where the book took place. I'm looking forward to the next one.
