This a sweet, fluffy, low angst romance with a really entertaining narration. Joel Leslie provides distinct character voices and an enjoyable listening experience.Charlie Matthews and Josh Campbell are just two of the cast of likable characters in the story. Truthfully everyone, with the exception of Charlie's homophobic jerk-off parents, is likable in this story.I almost feel like I'm damning this with faint praise, but I'm not, really. There is nothing wrong with it, but at the same time there [...]

Charlie Matthews first sees Josh Campbell when the sexy paramedic is called to take care of a little girl who has broken her leg. Josh exudes confidence, is movie star handsome and is gentle and calming with Charlie’s injured student. From what Charlie can see, the man is the perfect package, a perfect hero. When Josh returns to the school as part of a children’s safety campaign run by the fire department, the two men meet again. And this time Josh has the time to really notice Charlie right [...]

Charlie is a schoolteacher who lived in the big city but misses the connections you get in a small town. He wants to settle down and have roots and that’s exactly what he gets in his hometown. The added bonus? He is near to his best friend, Greg, again and that alone is worth the move. Greg is a wonderful character who has been there for Charlie since early childhood. Josh is a paramedic who responds to a call at Charlie’s school when a young girl breaks her leg. Josh has it all, gentleness [...]

Original Blog Post: Happy Happy Release Day!!! Blog Tour, eARC Review, Excerpt & #Giveaway: Charlie's Hero (Heroes: Book 1) by Nic StarrReview by: multitaskingmommaMy Rating: 5 of 5 StarsNic Starr's books always make me smile. They are light hearted and no matter the angst, there is nothing heavy or uber dramatic about the treatment of the different situations. However, never have stomped my feet like a boxer (think Ali and Pacquaio the way they dance around in the ring) when I read that end [...]

5 Stars - Reviewed for the Novel ApproachSeriously?!? How could you not love these guys? And not just the main characters, Charlie and Josh, but the secondary characters are all pretty awesome too (well, except Charlie’s parents, who just suck)!Honestly, some of my favorite parts of this book were Charlie’s conversations with Greg, and some of the interactions with Charlie and Andrew and Josh and Andrew. And I did kind of love Simon too! Josh was so sweet and shy and scared. He wanted to jus [...]

Once I got into it, I loved it. The story was well written. It flowed well and Josh and Charlie are both extremely likable characters. It's sweet, sexy, hot with just a little hint of angst. The conflict of the story is Josh being gay, but no [...]

Nic Starr is new to me. I'm no stranger to the name but I just never got the opportunity to read any of her books until now. I am SO thrilled this was the first one I got to read. Charlie's Hero is a wonderful read. Charlie blew my mind. He's so strong, brave, and smart. He's vulnerable because of his past but I LOVED how, even though thinking of the rejection he faced from his parents, it didn't dictate WHO he was. I giggled with the opening as Charlie laid eyes on Josh for the first time. How [...]

Handsome second grade teacher meets a sexy paramedic? It’s almost too perfect. But beneath the surface both Josh and Charlie are troubled men with complicated pasts. This is a sweet, simple story, but it is beautifully constructed. I fell in love with Josh and Charlie and I really loved their friends and co-workers. Little quirks bring characters to life. Starr makes both men’s relationships with their families complicated and difficult without creating villains. I really enjoyed the tiny de [...]

This is one book I loved since the first sentence. The story is well written and the main characters Charlie and Josh are made for each other. Charlie is a school teacher and he knows all about having a difficult time of being accepted by his family,  but he has good friends that help him deal with the loss. Josh is a paramedic who lives with his brother and also is not a stranger to loosing someone important in his life. He also has good friends. Charlie is in love with Josh at first sight. [...]

I enjoyed the story and the characters were likeable. It was a simple love story, nothing really angsty or over the top. I did find parts of the book kind of drag and found myself skipping a little bit, but a pleasant story to read. I am kind of curious of about Andrew so I may read the next one when it comes out.

A Joyfully Jay review. 4 starsThis is the first in Nic Starr’s The Heroes Series. As I have found with most first books in a series, the first book can be the hardest to “get into.” This book was no different. It was a little slow out of the starting gate, but once it got going, it ran right to the winner’s circle! Honestly, the first few chapters were really hard for me to connect to the characters. It wasn’t until we started getting into the fourth and fifth chapters, when I started [...]

I got hooked into Charlie’s Hero very quickly, and read it in two sittings, staying up later than I should because I needed to find out what happened. After finishing it, I was very pleased to find out that it is the first of a series, and that the next book Andrew’s Promise is already out! I love stories set in small towns, with friendships that are more like family. Charlie’s Hero ticked all th [...]

Charlie’s Hero is one of those books that is sweet but angsty, tells a story but has a message, and gives the character a hero but also gives the reader heroes.Charlie has come back to his hometown to be a school teacher. When a little girl is injured on the playground the paramedic who attends to her catches Charlie’s eye immediately and he begins to spin a fantasy in his head. This is a beautiful MM Love story of Charlie, a school teacher, and Josh, a paramedic. The two are immediately attracted to each other with their jobs minimizes the time they spend with each other, but they make it work.
