Katie Shaw makes a wish upon a star one night for her life to be different. She wants to be exciting, and she wants a boyfriend who's with her all of the time. (Katie is a quiet and not very popular girl who looks drab, wears dull clothes) Katie has a crush on a boy at school called Jason, but he barely notices her.Over the next few days Katie has a feeling that something extraordinary is going to happen to her something big. That night she dreams of a handsome guy who rides a motorcycle and he [...]

Dream Date is a 1990's young adult thriller novel, but don't hold its seemingly generic plot against it - this book is much better than it appears, filled with genuine and often disturbing suspense.

Review to come in my book blog on Friday. By 5pm, pacific standard time!I'm starting Creepy Fridays, a new meme in my blog.Every Fridays, I would post a review, a fan-cast, a playlist, etc. featuring a teen horror book that was popular in the 70s until the 90s. The most popular are the Fear Street books, obviously. But I won't just be talking about R.L. Stine. I'm trying to broaden my reading tastes. For instance, this book is by an author I've never heard of. I'll be featuring other authors eve [...]

Another exemplary piece of Point Horror 90s cover art. This is another one of Point Horrors I read in childhood - quite a reasonable set compared to the massive list I have now as part of my ongoing project - and it's one that always freaked me out a little bit. This is more due to the weirdness of the premise and the overtones of abusive relationships more than any real spooky feel to the text. The book is one of those Point Horrors that actually have no logical explanation for the events (or ap [...]

I first read this book about a good 15 years ago and I must say, every time I read it I still love it like the first time. It's very rare to find a book that successfully incorporates dreams into the plot. The main reason I love this book is because it shows on how somebody may seem to be a good person in the beginning but yet do a quick turn around. All in all this is a great recommendation for young avid readers.

Recommended to me by a classmate. Until this day I NEVER forgot it. It always stuck with me. Katie is a shy girl who wishes for more, one day she gets it when Heath appears in her dreams making her dreams come true. If you listen to this on audio it's MUCH better. The Story Circle does an excellent job of acting this book out.

OH MY GOD!!!!!! This is the MVP for me!!!! I know I mentioned this in my other point horror reviews, but I got to hear this as an audio book on YouTube, thanks to the uploader, and I got hooked. Katie is the typical YA horror heroine: shy, quiet, pretty, but in an understated way. Like any heroine, she wants the cutest boy at school to notice her, but alas, all hope seems dashed that is until we enter Heath. Heath is like a sexy Freddy Krueger in every way: he appears in her dreams to make her d [...]

Nice, atmospheric story about a girl who meets the boy of her dreams her dreams! I liked how this kept things pretty simple, with some good spooky moments and an exciting ending. It had some potent allusions to the cycle of domestic violence, too. If Heath hadn't died and started invading the dreams of impressionable teenage girls, he would definitely have grown up to be an abusive boyfriend/husband!

Another book that I read when I discovered that I enjoy reading, only not when I'm forced to do so for a letter grade! I cannot recall in great detail, but I will have ti reread and see where my interest in this book stands =) I will also be passing this on to my nieces.

I read this a few years back in my high school years, and I remember loving it! Heath Granger was hot, dangerous and well described! I also felt very immersed in the panic/fear Katie felt- signs of a well written book. Recommend to those who love quick fixes of horror/danger.

I was really surprised by this book and can still remember the story vividly. Also, it didn't take me long to get through it since it kept my attention captivated. A definite good read for anyone who has a thing for teen thriller books.

Oh, my poor eyeballs!! Ever watch a movie and at the end of that movie you go, 'that just wasted an hour of my life I won't get back'? Well, yeah, that was exactly how it was for me reading this book. I tortured my poor eyeballs reading this awful book.

Good book! I mean, typically a 30-year-wouldn't read books that are targeted for teenagers, but I have to say this was a good read. Yes, I recommend it to anyone. :)

Possibly the worst book I've ever read. Think I could have done a better job in first school. (I know it's for kids/young adults but this is much too dumbed down)
