This is the first in a new series, a delightful small town romance with quirky characters and a story that had me laughing and crying from page one.Annie is a hometown girl that once had dreams of becoming a photographer, she even won a prestigious scholarship in New York but when her father got sick she was overwhelmed and came home to help her mother and brother run the family Inn.Nick Conrad grew up in Truhart but now lives in Atlanta pursuing a distinguished career as an architect. He was An [...]

I can't believe this book is the debut book from Cynthia! She has done an amazing job giving us characters that drag us into the story too. I fell for this story right away. There are quite a few spoilers but they just build until you get to the end. This is a crazy story with crazy families. Annie is always helping others. She comes across her first and only love, Nick, when she is in Atlanta for her sister's Bridal Shower. She is from Upper Michigan and there is competition there. Atlanta floo [...]

3.5 starsA Wedding in Truhart was a good read.I enjoyed the characters and storyline. There was a lot going on which took me a little time to get into but once I got to know the characters my interest was held and I was happy to have read it.Overall this was an enjoyable contemporary romance and a nice start to the Truhart series /series/1608Thank you Kensington Books via NetGalley for the advance copy.

This is a solid three stars. It's a competent romance novel. There's sibling issues, there's economic status-related conflict, there's small town v. big city that actually isn't black and white. I think the childhood crush aspect is overplayed as a romantic shorthand, in lieu of actual romantic development within the novel. I mean, it's really generally competent. It is. Except that three quarters of the way, I was eye-rolling it, thanks to a severe case of: "And now, my dear Jane, what have you [...]

Annie has to plan a wedding suitable for her TV-news-star sister and all the Atlanta society folk traveling to humble Truhart, Michigan for the festivities. This novel is all about appearances and what really matters. The love story between Annie and her old crush, Nick, is the main part of the novel. 2 unnecessarily-graphic sex scenes.

Wedding in Truhart is not the kind of book on which I usually throw myself in, but I like to read time to other something more lighter and resting, of which I know I will laugh. With this contemporary romance which proceeds in a small town of the USA, with its stereotypes and its marriage of madness, I knew that I would be served with the insane laughter side and mild nutters bounces.Annie is a simple young woman, art's professor without job, impassioned of photography and which helps in the fam [...]

A Wedding in Truhart by Cynthia Tennent is the first book in her Truhart series. This is a sweet romance that surrounds two families that are very different. One family is high society in Georgia, and the other is somewhat eccentric from a small mid western town in Michigan. The premise of the story is a wedding between the bride from the small town and the groom from a wealthy high society family. Annie is our heroine, and we meet her when she and her mom, and aunt attend her sister’s engageme [...]

Wow, what a totally awesome book from author Cynthia Tennent! A Wedding in Truhart grabs you right from the beginning and the heart-stirring roller coaster never lets up. The two primary characters, Annie Adler (or "bump" to her close friends), and Nick Conrad, have undeniable chemistry and their journey is replete with desire, loathing and love. Ms. Tennent is an excellent storyteller and her words kept me glued to my seat from the very first chapter.Annie lives with her mom at t [...]

4.5 out of 5 starsI have gushed about loving the Pacific Northwest so you might be surprised at my choice of this book. Truhart, Michigan? That is in the Midwest. Well . . . confession time. I was born and raised in small town Michigan – population 2126 in the 2010 census. So the blurb for this book kind of grabbed me. I identified with it. I wanted to see how this author portrayed small town Michigan. I have to say, she nailed it. Not only did I see myself, my family and some neighbors in thi [...]

Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Lyrical Shine Publishing for my copy. I started reading wondering if I really would like all the characters. There were very quirky especially Aunt Addie and Annie who keeps divorcing with Nick when she didn't even had any relationship with him yet. She was hung over on him for entire part one. Only character I really enjoyed was Charlotte's fiance Henry. He was only character I really liked. Story started with Charlotte having an engagement party in Atlanta. C [...]

Read the full review on Bookaholics Not-So-Anonymous.Note: This ARC was provided by Kensington Books in exchange for an honest review.A Wedding in Truhart is the series starter in Truhart and is the debut novel of author Cynthia Tennent and a book that I absolutely adored. This was a story about Annie Adler and how she saw the world around her, especially when it came to her sister's upcoming wedding and how her longtime crush Nick Conrad was living his life, and how she came to a new set of rea [...]

One wedding, that will put the family loyalty to a test, that will change their lives forever, and events that will put the whole wedding into a danger of never happening. What I really enjoyed in this story was how with everything happening around them, every detail that could go wrong doing so, several times over, the bride and groom never lost the sight of each other, questioning their love for each other. At least so I assume, the story is told from Annie's point of view, in the first tense, [...]

A Wedding in Truhart by Cynthia Tennent is the first book that I have read by this author. It was an enjoyable book to read but I felt that there could have been more to the story.Annie Adler came home from studying in New York City to help her mom and brother run the family inn in Truhart, MI. Annie is strong but is definitely "a fixer". She feels like everything is her responsibility to take care of in order to help her mother. Then their is Nick Conrad who was her brother's best friend while [...]

I love small town romances, so this was something I really enjoyed, but I do wish the setting was more in Truhart; in the book the characters actually don't get to Truhart until about half way into the story, and it's not that I didn't like the beginning, but I just preferred the scenes in Truhart. I loved Annie; even if she was a little insecure, I still thought she was intelligent and I liked her pops of sassiness. I also liked Nick; even if he was a bit quiet, I like how he was with Annie; ho [...]

A Wedding in Truhart may be a little light on the romance for some - Nick and Annie really aren’t together that much and when they are things usually don’t end all that well :) - but I really enjoyed their relationship. And there is so much more going on to keep you glued to the pages. You only get Annie’s POV, which is both good and bad. The good is that you feel like you understand her and what she’s going thru, allowing you to see why she says and does different things. Everything is [...]

This was an okay book. The romance was somewhat underdeveloped as were the characters. There was nothing horrifically wrong with the book, just tiny things like the plot being a little thin. And I quite frankly never warmed to the heroine. She was just whiny. I get that she was having problems and that she loved her family but good god, it was all so unending. Annie is that heroine. She's back in Truhart, MI to help her mom and brother run the family inn. They're just a down-home family, pragmat [...]

A Wedding in Truhart was a warm family story about trying to make everything work out right. As you all know, that isn't possible, even though Annie tried her best to make her sister's wedding everything she dreamed of. When plans were forced to change, Annie poured all her money, heart, and energy into making the inn look as wonderful as possible so Charlotte won't be embarrassed by her country bumpkin relatives. Through the wedding planning from engagement dinner to the final event, Annie is d [...]

First and foremost I appreciated A Wedding in Truhart for showing me a true Southern how we must look to people from the North. I really needed that eye-opener. So to be perfectly honest we are not so much different, one place is just colder while the other is warmer and definitely more humid. In both we have our Aunt Addie, bless their hearts. Small Southern towns also find garage sales to be big events and still we do know most everyone’s name. This well-written delightful story is tightly st [...]

Enjoyable, delightful and filled with both humor and heartache! This is the story of a wedding in which just about everything seems to go wrong but it is also the story of a family pulling together to achieve the goal of providing one family member with a perfect wedding. The book starts in Atlanta and ends in Truhart – two completely different places. Some problems faced related to: high society versus small communities, dreams fulfilled or left behind, communication and miscommunication. The [...]

I loved this book! Reminds me so much of what a regular type of wedding would be and the hassles included. It was a lot of fun, and I knew I was really getting into it when there were a couple of people that I would have loved to have slapped the snot out of! My only problem is, I strongly feel something was missing at the end. Possibly like the last of the story? Something just didn't feel right like there should have been a bit more with Annie and Nick. A Wedding in Truhart was an enjoyable and special read for me. I actually live in Michigan so although a fictional story it was nice to learn about locations and landmarks that I may not have known about. It took a little time for me to warm up to the story. Issues with pacing had a hand in that. Once further into the novel, I started to find it delightful. Annie had a lot to deal with. A tinge of jealously, falling in love and the crazy theatrics of her family. A wedding was the perfect setting [...]
