I didn't really connect with this one very well. The story was 'nice', both MC's were 'nice,' the service dog was 'nice,' most of the secondary characters were 'nice,' but that was about all that I got out of this short story.Visually-impaired Ben endangers both himself and his service dog, Colt, when trying to rush home and escape his feelings of paranoia during an evening walk home, resulting in the dog being hit by a car.The driver, Jay, is a veterinarian (of course,) so he takes Ben and Colt [...]

A nice low-angst, feel good story about a man who finds love again after becoming blind.Just right for a rainy day tucked up under the duvet with hot chocolate.

Yes, I love dogs and expected to love this short story as well. Sadly, it was just ok. For my liking it was too easy, too simple, perhaps too bloodless? Additionally there was no chemistry between the MCs.

2.5 StarsUltimately this didn't really thrill me. I was a little uncomfortable with the relationship between Jay and Ben for quite a while. I can't really put my finger on why.Maybe because Jay pursued so strongly? And Ben was so reticent? Then all of a sudden it was all "I love you", and I didn't really know how they'd gotten there?I don't know, it just didn't really work for me.

Sadly, this was too short. There was at least twice as much story here, and the rapidity with which these two men get it on was too unbelievable. Cute plot idea, not so cute on the execution. Jay, the good vet was just too perfect and too understanding, and Ben, who'd been basically a hermit since the mugging that left him blind and the loss of his BF shortly after, made a stupid assumption that created what felt like contrived drama. The writing itself is good and flows well, with good dialogue [...]

A story about an artist who has become blind is going to be a heart tugger for sure. Ben was blinded in one eye in an accident and then disease took the sight in his other eye. Part of the story is missing here – what kind of accident? What disease? But this story is about Ben, not his injuries. Ben has a guide dog who is struck by a car driven by a veterinarian. Fortunately, he is not seriously injured but the accident does bring Ben and the vet, Jay, together and a spark is ignited between t [...]

2.5 starsIt was okay, I expected to like it more but it was just too short to be really developed. I think more background story would have helped a lot. At least the dog was cute, although there was almost not chemistry between the MCs, everything was way too fast and too easy. All in all it was a bit bland

This is a cute short story. Unfortunately I couldn't feel any connection with the mc's or between them, but It was an enjoyable read tho.

3.5 Heart Review by CindyOnce again I find myself reviewing a story with so much potential that didn’t pan out how I’d hoped.Ben is easy for the reader to fall for. He’s sweet and trying so hard to get his life back after a horrible crime took his sight. He was one of those character who I just wanted to hug.Jay is a good man who always tries to do the right thing and this tendency is what causes the little bit of angst in this story.Short stories are sometimes difficult to write and even [...]

FourStarsBen and Colt are quite the pair. I love how Ben trusts Colt to get him and protect him. While I wished that I knew more about how Ben was hurt and feeling about everything, in such a short amount of space, I understand why Lynn was not able to do that. Ben's insecurities sometimes plague his mind, but the inner struggle that he goes through is one that I found to be profound and necessary. I liked how Lynn was able to take his past and meld it well with his present - that despite his pr [...]

This is a pretty fluffy little story with little drama except for the big misunderstanding which thankfully only lasts a few days before the female best friend (who I quite liked) smacks some sense into Ben. Ben has been blind for about a year and when Jay, a vet, hits his dog (minor injury) with his car, starts pursuing Ben who is sure there is no future and he's a charity case. It could have been quite benign and boring, but I just adored Jay. So many times I found myself smiling as I was read [...]

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance 3.75stars I will admit, I was a bit skeptical of Must Love Dogs by K. Lynn. First of all there is a fairly popular mainstream novel (and associated movie) by the same name. Second, I am always leery of pets being part of the main storyline. Pets are kind of like kids in that way. They can be done well or not. When they are an integral part of the storyline, you have to be sure they act like they "should". Of course, as I have no pets, I am not the best judge of t [...]

Ben was attacked and made blind. His boyfriend left him when it was clear the blindness was permanent. Now he is a painter struggling to find a new outlet for his art. His newly acquired guide dog is bumped into (not really hurt) by Jay’s car when Ben is out one night.Jay is a veterinarian who falls for Ben and his dog nearly upon first meeting them. He tries very hard to break down the walls Ben has built to protect himself from hurt and is almost “in” when a misunderstanding nearly ruins [...]

So I'm a big fan of characters with a disability, like blindness, and especially service dogs and dogs in general. This, however, was just a bit bland for me. There are definitely others in the same genre that I would recommend first.
