Before I get started I want to clarify that is the second book in the Heroes’ series. I failed to notice that. I’m usually very careful about reading series in order; my OCT tendencies like things to stay neat. And somehow I completely missed the fact that this is book TWO. Now, I’ve seen where this is claimed to be a stand-alone, but I don’t think I agree with that. I would have really really liked the first book first. I plan on going back so I can start from the beginning despite the [...]

Nice and sweet didn't blow me away, but I really enjoyed reading this one.Andrew (22) and Tanner (21) have been best friends for some time. They work at the same garage and they are planning a 6 month road trip together. Both are very excited about it. Tanner is gay and out, although not everybody knows, because he isn't advertising it. Andrew has never been in a realtionship or had feelings for anybodyt.Andrew lives with his father and his little 15 year old brother Josh (book 1). Their mother [...]

The second book in this serie is about Andrew and Tanner. The first part of the book goes back in time and explains what Andrew was like before his (and Josh's) father died, how he started to develop feelings for Tanner and how the death of his father messed up a lot of his plan's for the future. The second part of the books starts were Charlie's Hero ended. I really loved this book and i'm so glad we got to see the story of Andrew and Tanner. I was so happy to see that they got to have a HEA :) [...]

With Andrew's Promise, we get what the author promised and more for this is a really sweet story of love, perseverance, forgiveness and acceptance.Andrew is Josh's older brother, the one who gave up all to guarantee Charlie get [...]

Andrew took the helm in his family when his father passed away unexpectedly but at the tender age of 22 he had a lot to learn, and he had to shape up sharpish because his little brother who was relying on him. With pressure like that he is bound to make mistakes and his first and his most devastating is the way he turns his back on the relationship that Tanner and him had.Friends for years before they acted and changed the dynamic of their relationship, I thought he was foolish to cut those ties [...]

Andrew is a character that was previously introduced in Charlie's Hero, book 1 in the series, which I haven't read. I've been told that book one introduced Andrew after he'd started taking care of his younger brother and I'm glad I didn't have that information ahead of time. Andrew's friendship with Tanner prior to his the upheaval is important because it's the foundation that their newer romantic connection is built on.Andrew's part of this story is so sad. He willingly gives up his dreams in o [...]

A Joyfully Jay review. 4 starsSo when the first book in this series, Charlie’s Hero, ended we got a bit of a glimpse of what was to come in Andrew’s story. In this second book in the Heroes series (that I have been anxiously awaiting reading) we get to see what happened between Andrew and Tanner way back when they had the fight that had Josh hiding his sexuality from his brother ten years ago, and then what happens in the present day when Tanner returns home. While it could be read as a stan [...]

This is my first book by this author, yes, this is the second one in the series but some how I read this one first. I didn’t feel lost so I’m guessing it doesn’t matter.Because this book is told in two phases instead of flashbacks won big brownie points. The book itself happens in two phases, first 100 pages or so, is the kids being just out of school around nineteen, discovering sexuality, each other feelings and planning a big trip. Tanner and Andrew have been friends for forever but I gue [...]

oh, i knew i would love this story and was truly not disappointed. i'm not even sure you can call this a second chance at love's more a lifetime of love. and it was absolutely perfect. when andrew and josh lost their father, andrew inherited all his responsibilities - raising josh, taking care of the house, being the adult. he completely gave up his life and turned away from his one true love. he is absolutely selfless and was proud to do the things he did but he hasn't lived in 10 years. he gav [...]

When I read and reviewed Charlie’s Hero one of the things that caught my attention was Andrew’s commitment to his brother Josh. Then knowing that the author Nic Starr was going to write his story I knew all bets were off, I wanted to read it right away.I have to say, I am SO happy that Bec asked to review Andrew’s Promise.Andrew and Tanner are friends and have been for a long time. When the circumstances of Andrew and Josh’s dad passing away, things change because feelings started to get [...]

2.5 stars. This was just okay. I felt like the story was more of an outline than a complete story. The characters were likeable but not well developed. The conflict was barely any conflict really and it was resolved way too easily. (view spoiler)[ Best friends who fall in love and then spend ten years apart without any form of contact should have to work at least a little for their HEA. (hide spoiler)]I am all for happy endings but there just wasn't enough conflict here to keep me fully invested. [...]

4 1/2 stars This is the 2nd book in the hero series but can be read as a stand alone. I have to admit I wasn't found of Andrew in the first book but when I read one of the last scenes in that book I had to find out his story. What a story it was. I really enjoyed this book, we saw Andrew's story from 10 years ago and then present day. I cried a few times because the emotions were,so real and the story line was believable. Them chemistry was there and it was real. This story was about family [...]

Book 2 of Nic Starr’s Heroes series is equally as fantastic as book 1. Andrew’s Promise takes us 10 years in the past in a 2 part, past to present story. It’s an emotional, heart soaring tale. We follow Andrew, Josh’s brother, and his best friend Tanner as they discover themselves and each other. A love story a decade in the making. Part 1 is the past part 2 is the future. No time jumps people, so don’t worry! Tanner is a pure delight. He holds Andrew up, supports and loves him until t [...]

I love a second chance love story and this is one of the best. Ten years ago when Andrew and Josh's father died so did Andrew's dreams of travel with his best friend and lover Tanner. Andrew felt compelled to stay home to finish raising his brother but he didn't want to stunt Tanner's own dreams so Andrew cut ties with Tanner and Tanner left. Tanner realized what a mistake it had been to not have Andrew in his life so after ten years he returns home determined to right this wrong. Josh is grown [...]

Tanner came back after 10 years. And he always loved Andrew, hoping that he is available and also he came out of the closet.I love this Andrew, the brother and the lover [...]

Wow! I loved this story. Couldn't wait to read it after reading Charlie's Hero. I loved the backstory in Part 1. It was great to see how the boys' friendship inevitably turned to love. Starting with Part 2, we pick up where Charlie's Hero left off. It was irritating to see Andrew's worry about telling Josh (same story in reverse as the first book). However, I'm glad Andrew was not conflicted about his feelings for Tanner. He didn't hesitate to show Tanner exactly how he felt and watching him dis [...]

As much as I enjoyed the debut novel in this series which portrayed Josh and Charlie, I was far more interested in the glimpses I saw of Josh’s older brother, Andrew. I was certain there had to be a story there between Josh’s memories of how his brother was before they lost their dad and things Josh remembered about Andrew’s relationship with his best friend, Tanner. Now in ‘Andrew’s Promise’ I get to find out and hopefully see these two men find what they were looking for so long ag [...]

3.5 stars. This story was more about the past of Andrew, Josh and Tanner. It was kind of nice to see some history for them and it added to their characters. It gave the reasons why Andrew acted the way he did before Josh came out. It was too much for me though. Nearly half the book was about the past and it was loaded with a lot of detail. I felt shortchanged when Tanner comes back and he and Andrew get back together. Their ten year separation and the reasons for it were pretty much dismissed wi [...]

First things first… keep a tissue nearby for this one!! This is book two in the Heroes series, and we met Andrew in book 1 – Charlie’s Hero, but this is his story…….Everything was fine in Andrews’s life… he had his best friend Tanner, he lived at home with his dad and brother, and he was busy planning his dream road trip he was taking with Tanner. He was so excited, and was aware of new feelings he had inside when he was close to Tanner, and hoped he could find out exactly what the [...]

Review first posts on Nautical Star Books. I received one copy of this book at no charge from the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. At the end of Charlie’s Hero, you have been given a first impression of Andrew that is maybe not so great. For a lot of the book he seemed angry and possibly homophobic. Things take a turn at the very end of Charlie’s Hero and you are left wondering who Andrew really is. Andrew’s Promise will help explain what drives him and sho [...]

This book goes back to the time prior to events in Charlie's Hero, back to before Josh and Andrew's father died and left Andrew the man of the house. I start with this because it was this tragic event that was a catalyst for not only the way Josh was in book 1, but it explains so much more about Andrew and his relationship with his brother. When Andrew and Josh's dad died, custody of a then sixteen year old Josh went to Andrew, who immediately put his life on hold. Nothing mattered but raising h [...]

I'm clearly in the minority on this story. I have absolutely no issue with the writing, it's clear, concise and the story flows. Unfortunately my problem was with the story itself. After having read the first book in this series I was looking forward to reading Andrew's story. As a stand-a-lone I think this is a really good read but for someone that had just finished reading the previous book I felt like there was too much re-hash of what I learned already in Charlie's Hero. Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance After reading Charlie's Hero, I knew I had to read about Andrew's story. Andrew is the brother who raised Charlie's lover, Josh. He is also the one who let the "one" get away. As we know from the end of Charlie, that "one" is back in town, and apparently Andrew is ready to claim what he wants. For Complete review see Prism Book Alliance: prismbookalliance/?pos

I'm an only child, so I find reading about sibling relationships fascinating. In Andrew's Promise, Andrew and Josh's father dies, and Andrew devotes years of his life to raising his brother. His selflessness choked me up -- even as I wanted to smack him and tell him to talk about what was on his mind. His story ended on an up-note, which left me feeling good.
