Not a bad book and not a bad series. I found that some parts of it were a bit young but that could be misleading as there are (attempts at least at) more mature themes. The supers have "shown up" (shown back up?) and now the world is in trouble.Half + of these supers are much of the mindset of Voldmort from harry Potter's world. Subjugate (or annihilate) the nonsuper population and run things to suit the "super population".And it don't look that good for nonsupers and the "heroes" who are on the [...]

This review was originally posted on audiobookreviewerGiven the end of the first book, a twister tale would be expected but this one was far from it. Just like the first book in the series, everything was superficial, not to mention no rhyme or reason given for anything that happens in the story. All that was fine for the first one but this was way too artificial to keep listening. All that Leopold talk and Kane being a superhero seemed close to nothing, for those who haven’t read the second bo [...]

Few books have had me as engrossed as this one has in recent months. I couldn’t put it down it was so good! Rutherford writes such wonderful characters. This is a book about 'Supers' – so they obviously have super powers, but his characters are just typical people – they are fallible, make mistakes and even worse, they have emotions! That is one of the reasons this book is such a fantastic read. You get a real feel for the emotional impact the events are having on the heroes in this story, [...]

Short, fun book. I had to read it, as it's book 2 in the series I recently started about teenagers who start developing super powers. This book is a enjoyable read, but you have to disregard a lot of plot issues, specifically, a lot of things happen that just would not happen if these event unfurled for real. I just felt like the author's imagination and research could have been a little more in tune with each other. Still, fun book.

Wow !!! Loving the flashbacks to build the storyline. Ready for the next one already.

Not as good as book 1It was ok, but less coherent than book 1. Even with the world building, it kept losing my attention. I’m gonna try book 3, but don’t expect to finish the series if it’s as lackluster as this one. Book 1 was quite solid, kept my attention, and made me care about Tempest. This one was just confusing.

I read this book after checking out the first one. I thought the first one was okay. Had alot of flaws, but it was what it was. I was on the fence if I wanted to continue and read the sequel, but I had a busy day at work and I needed something to listen to so I continued.* The dialogue in the book was very underwhelming. It just seems like there were things left over that were not expanded upon.* The book started off with one antagonist. She was very underwhelming and very one dimensional. I can [...]

A fun book albeit a little superficial.Tempest's power seen to have been tunned down so he can be beaten by everyone, very much like Neo from MatrixSo now there are a lot of supers. It was expected since we read the title of the first book. The story is good in this book. The future part got a little disconnected though. The powers could use a little more varying. And the "superman"s could learn to use their powers so they don't lose so easy.

Pretty fun and a definite improvement of a second super, truth be told I would have merged the two together as they'd only just make a full book between them, I also think it would have made for a more satisfying conclusion to the first book. I felt like there was more characterisation with this book and Kane's not quite so quick with bouncing his emotions around the place, which I think is a benefit of the larger word count. Anyway overall there's a lot to enjoy about this book the fights a pre [...]

First off, five stars for the cover alone. I mean look at it, it's glorious. Next I'd like to say that this was a pretty good book though a tad short.Pros: Superheros, good fight scenes, fun easy to digest story, not too childish. Liked the way we stayed plausible with results of actions, though people still haven't come to terms with the fact that no matter how strong you might be, even if you can lift the Empire State Building for example, THE BUILDING WILL BREAK UNDER PRESSURE! You grab a wal [...]

Gripping read. The only thing missing from this series is the answer to the question, "Why are these people developing powers? Where are they coming from?" Hopefully Rutherford answers this in the upcoming books! I couldn't put it down, I blew through the first two books with no problem. I find the new revival of superheroes fascinating, and this series is just another great example. It's exciting and Kane is depicted as a realistic teenage boy. Unexpected blows keep coming from around the corne [...]

The same againMany books like this read. Plots and situations mostly all the same. Shy unassuming kid gets powers. Finally owns up to them when evil super appears. People get killed, shy kid realizes only he can beat him. He almost masters his powers but still needs help to improve himself and winW the evil super seems to be demented. Not to give away the plot but Agent Loren is a crazy as the super villain. Perhaps we'll find out why in the next book.

Rather juvenile and somewhat tedious. Very redundant in places. The storyline keeps me wanting to find out what happens, but sometimes I have to put the book down just bc it gets kind of stupid and puerile. But hey, they're free via Kindle Unlimited, so I'll keep reading and hoping they get better.

I thought that this was a really fun book. I am eagerly anticipating the future sequels. I want to know what motivates Director Loren. My heart was breaking for Kane. He is trying to hard to learn as he goes along, and there is so much pressure on every side to not get it wrong. I so want to see him succeed.

Very entertainingIt was an easy read. I usually take a long time to finish books. I finished this in a day. This book allowed my imagination to run wild as it was not weighted down by overly specific character descriptions. Well done.

This world only works if all the supers only come from USA. So the USA is the only place where people live. I was not sure how mean more times I have to read "I am powerless to do anything" This story is lam!

Interesting world, a bit dark. It's an interesting world although it seems a bit pessimistic and dark to me for a super world, it's more about freedom fighters in a post apocalyptic world.

    19. Alex Jackl on said:

Fun but super lightI did like it but it is thin and some of it is not logical. The characterization are too shallow and the strategies of the supers and the government's actions are not always logical. I don't mean to be too negative - it is fluffy light entertainment.
