This is one of those occasions when I'm happy I tried a new-to-me author. Big time bonus on top: a zombie-pocalypse.Looking back at my reading updates, the characterization and level of emotion made their appearances early. They more than held up all the way through.Blaine and Andrew each had issues and hang-ups prior to the Outbreak and, just cuz the undead begin chomping at the bit for brains and some morphing into skitters who scale walls with creepy speed, they don't exactly take a backseat [...]

The Blogger Girls4.5 StarsI loved this book! It is no big surprise that I love horror, and zombies are favorite sub-genre that I just can’t seem to get enough of. What I loved about this book was it had the most realistic “infected” vs “survivors” story that I’ve read to date. The fact that I could see similarities to the video game, Left4Dead, which was an absolute obsession of mine at one time, only made the experience that much better and that much more terrifying. I could absolut [...]

A Joyfully Jay review. 3.5 starsI’m a sucker for a good apocalyptic novel. I tend to enjoy the interplay between the various aspects of humanity as society begins to break down. I suspect that says something about me. Love is for the Living is a fairly well written novel with a strong sense of place and a creep factor that skirts the edges of becoming unnecessarily violent. Unfortunately it’s also a bit humdrum. Quite quickly it falls prey to more than one worn out zombie survival trope and [...]

If you are fighting zombies, put on a shirt! And put something on your head! Put anything on your head! They're zombies for fuck sake!

A copy of this book was provided to me by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an HONEST review.Love is for the Living (Albion Rising, Book 1) by Nicholas Kinsley (MM, Adventure, Drama, Horror, Paranormal, Science Fiction, Romance)****4 STARS****I love a good zombie story with the heros falling in love and having to fight their way through the zombie apocalypse. Albion Rising is a good one. It wasn't complex, but it kept me entertained and reading it straight through. The author is talented, he k [...]

OKay.I liked it alot but little things niggled at meke the fact that they were crammed into that house and sleeping on the floor when they could easily break into a neighbouring house and steal more blankets and a mattress or two.Dont get me wronge author went into a lot of detail about how they survived post-infection outbreak. The author didnt skimp on tragedy's either with each character losing loved ones. Sometimes graphically.I felt like the characters dealt with their grief in a natural wa [...]

Really good. (view spoiler)[ I do find it funny that the cover shows Blaine as a hairless supermodel, when that is pretty much the opposite of how he is described. (hide spoiler)]

2.5 Heart Review by VickiThis story starts with a bang, as Blaine, one of our main characters, wakes up to a changed world. Pretty typical zombie apocalypse stuff, some sort of virus has caused an outbreak of disease, killing people and turning them in to flesh-eating monsters. Blaine and his roommate Paul, make a run for Paul’s girlfriends home, dodging survivors and zombies. They arrive at Emily’s, and Blaine is the only one to leave. He heads out for his mothers home in Bristol. Blaine is [...]

There are books you read and love, and there are books you love so much you want to hug them when you finish them as if they had come to life and were suddenly living people. Love Is for the Living is one such book. The blurb for this book just doesn’t do it justice. The book is so rich, the characters so complex, and that just isn’t portrayed in the blurb. But hey, lucky for me I’m reviewing the book and not the blurb itself. The zombies seem to arrive overnight, and Blaine is completely u [...]

This book was really good. It reminded me a lot of "The Walking Dead" with the characters and how you never know what will happen with them. It had a bit of everything. I found myself hoping and crossing my fingers for the people. I also found myself crying at times when something sad would happen. The book was just a well written horror. I can't wait to read more of the series and see what else will happen. I'm sure I'll love it also.

You can't go wrong with a Zombie Apocalypse book!Blaine, a young university student, is something of a dreamer. He's wrapped up in his photography studies and likes hanging out with friends. When it becomes clear that there's Something Very Wrong out there, he takes off -- desperately hoping to make his way to his childhood home and his mother. Along the way, he runs into (almost literally) Andrew who's trying to find his sister amidst all the chaos and desolation. But Andrew, a Navy commander, [...]

The characters were superficial. It seems like the author saw that The Walking Dead was popular and decided that a zombie book would sell. Disappointing.
