Against the Paw by Diane Kelly is the fourth book in A Paw Enforcement series. Megan Luz is an officer with the Fort Worth Police Department. Megan’s partner is Sergeant Brigit (Megan does not play well with others—a Taser was involved). Megan is a patrol officer and they are currently on the lookout for Ralph Hurley, a dangerous fugitive. He targets females (who are alone), breaks in, steals their debit cards and coerces their PIN from them (awful man). In addition, a peeper has popped up! [...]

Dogs are miracles with paws. ~Attributed to Susan Ariel Rainbow KennedyAGAINST THE PAW falls somewhere in between with cozy mystery and romantic suspense by following Megan on patrol with Brigit by her side, smelling for the liver treats in her pocket. Megan is a capable officer looking to advance herself to detective. Brigit is just looking for her next meal although she relishes the opportunity to sniff out the suspects. The action unfolds from three perspectives - Megan's, Brigit's, and the u [...]

I didn't realize this was #4 in a series when I listened to it. It is fine as a stand alone. I enjoyed the book and it made me laugh out loud several times enough so that my family looked at me like I lost my mind at times.

It was ok. Some funny parts but a bit redundant and trying way too hard to be like the Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovich) series. I doubt I will read anymore in the series although it is appealing that is in affordable paperback form and makes a light summer read.

Another great Megan and Brigit story! Just love listening to what Brigit is thinking. She is one smart dog. Meagan is lucky to have her as a K-partner. Fast paced story that kept me wondering what would happen next. I loved every minute of it! Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Against the Paw: Paw Enforcement 4Reading in chronological order is recommended but not necessaryIn A Nutshell:Police officer Megan Luz and her K-9 are on the trail of a Peeping Tom. The sexual nature of the crime moves the book away from the cosy genre. But it is no less absorbing. Tighter editing would improve the pace, but it's a good story. The Plot:Ralph Hurley, is an escaped convict. He usually breaks into women's homes and threatens them. your bank card or your life'. But has he added Peep [...]

Megan is a police officer in Fort Worth, Texas. Her partner is Brigit, a German Shepherd. The majority of their job is patrolling the streets and responding to calls. An escaped convict is on the loose and up to his old trips breaking into houses and forcing the occupants to give up their ATM cards and access codes. There is also a peeping Tom going around peaking into women's windows and taking pictures. Could it be the same person? In addition to the police looking into it, the local Neighbou [...]

This series doesn't thrill me as much as Kelly's Tara Holloway series. The story lines are much simpler and more conventional. That said, I was interested enough to keep reading. I do like Brigit's POV the most. The author told us about Megan and Derek's relationship, the gas and tasering, twice. It should have been caught by the editor at least. Since it comes up in every book, we really didn't need it twice in the same book. The whole sexist element seems out of place given the current climate [...]

If this is supposed to be humor, I missed most of it. It’s cute and Megan is a good heroine, but she spoils Brigit and doesn’t seem to expect much training out of her. Not good in a police dog. The mini-chapters in Brigit’s point of view are just silly. The peeping tom was extremely creepy, however, so well drawn I could imagine him lurking in my own home’s shadows.

I love Brigitte and Megan, Megan is the officer and Brigitte is her dog partner. They always make me smile, and hug my own dog. I find the books entertaining. Megan hopes to find a missing felon and a peeping tom.And Brigitte always wants to help Megan get her man. Add in Megan's hunky firefighter/bomb squad boyfriend. and quirky roller derby roommate and you have a fun read.

Funny. Love the characters (in all the stories). This one is a bit more sexually graphic but I'd say it may be due to the theme of this particular story.

I really enjoy these books. They are page turners for me. This one, especially. I still think elements of the stories are too vulgar, but I do understand that it is true to life. :/

I like that along the way in the book the author tells things from the dog's perspective, and from the criminal's perspective. It helps keep things interesting.

Paws Down---- This is a Fun ReadI always enjoy reading about Megan and her K 9 partner Brigit. I feel like I know Megan and Brigit fairly well after reading all the books in the series. One of the funniest literary techniques is the alternating narrative from Megan and then Brigit. Everything Brigit thinks is a hoot. For example, after her last vet visit, Megan was told to stop giving Brigit so many treats since she gained six pounds since her last checkup. "If I had opposable thumbs I would be [...]

This was a light, pleasant read. I could see this series being on the Hallmark Mystery Channel. Mild suspense, a cute "hook", and a mystery with little violence and a smidge of suspense. Police Officer Megan Lutz and her K-9 partner, Brigit, deal with a convicted burglar who's broken his parole, and also with a peeping tom. The identity of the peeper was pretty obvious from the get-go, in spite of the red herrings. The tone was breezy, but sometimes tried too hard with the quips. I liked the dog [...]

High Paws for This Book!I love the Paws Enforcement series! They are action packed & always have a fascinating plot. The chapters written from K-9 Sergeant Brigit's POV are hysterical! Then there are the chapters written from the "perp's" POV that give you insight into the twisted criminal mind without giving away his identity till almost the very end. K-9 Police Officer Megan Luz is bright, tenacious, & very good at her job. She craves solving crime puzzles hoping to make her way up to [...]

Megan and Brigit are on the trail this time of a Peeping Tom, bring the perfect mix of mystery, mirth, and a touch of romance to the story. Ms Kelly is wonderful at capturing your attention from the beginning of the story and then taking you on a fun roller coaster ride throughout the book. I especially enjoyed the misdirections about the Peeping Tom and how the cast of quirky characters keep getting in the way of Megan and Brigit doing their job. I truly hope that Ms Kelly continues to write mo [...]

This is a great book; this is the fourth book in the Paw Enforcement series by Diane Kelly. Megan and Brigit are back for their fourth adventure in this funny crime fighting series. A peeping tom is causing trouble in Megan's neighborhood and as they hunt for clues while on patrol things are heating up at home as Seth and his bomb sniffing canine continue their two front dating strategy. I love this series as 4 footed Brigit offers her opinion and commentary in her own chapters. Seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time. Absolutely love the relationship between Megan and her dog, Bridgit. The two of them are after two criminals, one a dangerous felon and the other a peeping tom. The balance was nice, and made the story feel real (we all know cops have to juggle cases). The characters were multi-dimensional, the plot was interesting, the ending was satisfying and I enjoyed the subplots that I suspect carry over into other books. I will definitely be readin [...]

While this is the 4th book in the Paw Enforcement series, it's the first I've read so I can honestly say you don't have to read the first 3 to enjoy it :) But you may want to just because if they are half as enjoyable as this one you won't be disappointed. For me, the mystery / suspense of Against the Paw is meh, what really makes this story is getting glimpses of things from K-9 Brigit's point of view. If you love dogs, this is a must read.

Against the Paw reviewAgainst the Paw is the fourth book in the Paw Enforcement (plus a novella) series written by author Diane Kelly. This book is so funny, especially the chapters narrated by K-9 Sergeant Brigit. Also how many baton twirling police officers can there be? I would recommend reading the books in order just because. I usually reread the first book (Paw Enforcement) when a new one comes out. I look forward to many more Megan and Brigit escapades.

"Against the Paw" by Diane Kelly involves Police Officer Megan Luz and her partner in crime, Brigit who is a shepherd mix dog. Normally, the daily routine of a police officer is unpredictable, so our novel provides an insider's view of a day on the job. Kelly has captured the dynamics of the relationship between the two perfectly. Thank you GoodReads for the book.

Another delightful adventure for Megan and Brigit. Brigit's canine observations are not to be missed (she knew who the peeping Tom was long before Megan did). Seth and Blast are back, and even Frankie, Megan's roller derby skating housemate, plays a part in Megan's case. Megan and Brigit are definitely two of my favorite crime fighters.
