      Nice, friendly, homestyle cookbook with a plain, easy-to-read layout. No pictures, but most of the recipes are in familiar forms: Stew-like, casserole-like, pie-like, etc. and are not high-concept in presentation.There was a lot more oil in use than I like in my own cooking (even in things like spaghetti sauce. I've never put oil in spaghetti sauce), it's not strictly Cajun (not complaining), and there's one inexplicable incidence where a recipe for dirty rice involves canned cream of mushroom s [...]

      Another cookbook I looked through many times when I worked at Gumbo Ya-Ya and Gumbo Heads on Bourbon Street. I wasn't allowed to read my own books, so I had to look at something on slow nights with no customers. I chalked up looking at this book to product research. I never tried any of the recipes I found in this book.
