Rating: 3.5*A sweet and charming read about finding love when you least expect it and taking a chance. When Kara and her friend Viv take a cruise, it is Kara's chance to start moving on with her life after her husband was shot and killed in front of her. Nate immediately draws feelings out her that she thought long buried and encourages her to step aside her comfort zone. But it is only a holiday fling, right? With her friend Viv not exactly displaying the traits of a friend and actually putting [...]

I have mixed feelings about this book. It's a romantic suspense that's light on suspense but generous with the romance. There are some things I liked a lot and some things that had me shaking my head. I'll start with those. There were many, many, many copy editing and proofing errors and several times words that should have been adverbs had the -ly chopped off, resulting in odd or awkward sentences. There was some cringe-worthy writing also; here the author is attempting to metaphorically describ [...]

This was a great story. Mostly predictable, but still very entertaining. This story introduces us to Kara and Nate. Thanks to winning a cruise, Kara is ready for a much needed vacation. She never expects to find the man of her dreams while she is Aboard The Wishing Star. Nate is smitten with Kara from the very beginning. Kara is very timid, shy, and almost afraid of her own shadow. But thanks to Nate, we get to watch her come out of her shell and become a beautiful, semi-self confident woman. Sh [...]

When I was younger I used to watch 'The Love Boat' on television Okay, yes this shows my age, but this book took me back a little bit to that, but with a suspenseful feel to it also. Cara lost her husband to a random act of violence when she saw him gunned down in cold blood. Now she is ready to take some steps toward claiming her life back from that nightmare and she and her long-time friend go on a cruise that she hopes will be a step in that direction. This book surprised me with the twists th [...]

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.Kara's a widow who is afraid of many things in life including water. She wins a trip on a cruise for two and she takes her best friend. She also is in a job with an odd boss that she is not happy with. While on the cruise she gets all these little gifts that she doesn't know who they are from. She also meets Nate on the cruise, who teaches her to face her fears. I felt this story was good but it was also a slow. I also felt that in the beginni [...]

This is a great book for the person who wants a little mystery woven in with their romance. Debra takes us on a passionate ride of romance between Nate and Kara that has an ending that has your heart racing to find out "who done it". If you have never been on a cruise you will want to go on one and if you are an avid cruiser you will enjoy the story line. Take some time with the characters of this book and emerse yourself in the story with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy.

I received this book as an ARC for a honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Stacy Aube for Cutting Muse Blog Review. After the death of Kara's husband she lived her life in fear. It took her going on a cruise to realize she was missing out on so much. She meets Nate and takes a chance on him. Will he help her conquer her fears or will she always be missing out. This was a quick read that had my attention from the first moment and didn't let up until the very end.

After the violent death of her husband, Kara became even more timid than she already was. She won a cruise and invited her friend, Viv, to go with her. In this well-written story by Debra Parmley, there is suspense and there is romance, and it occurs on a wonderful cruise. How fun is that! This story was very enjoyable. I totally fell for Nate myself because of his loving patience for Kara. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a bit of romantic suspense.

Great readI really enjoyed this book. The characters were amazing and you could literally watch them falling in love with each other. Kara and Nate make the perfect couple and their adventure aboard the Wishing Star was fun and excitingbut the turmoil she goes through afterward was scary and Nate's response was perfect. Thank you for a great read.

I was given a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an honest review.I really do not know how to rate this story. For most of this story all I wanted to do was shake Kara and tell Nate to please stop saying 'sweetheart'. I feel like he was just to fast and loose with that word. How do I know that he does not say that word to all of his previous lovers? What makes Kara any different? [image error]Let me get back on track with the review. Kara has been through a lot in her life. She [...]

Just OKThis book was just OK for me. I liked the setting of a cruise ship along with the activities described on and off the ship. What I didn't like was being constantly inside Kara's head with all her fears. Also, it seemed like in every paragraph Nate winked at her. I understand what the author was trying to do in eventually leading up to Kara becoming a strong person and that it was supposed to seem like Nate was flirting, but it was overdone and redundant. I would also would have liked more [...]

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book, but I did have some issues with it. First of all, the pacing seemed a bit off. So much time was spent with everyone on the cruise, and then the drama at the end felt a bit rushed. I also felt that certain plot points didn't really get resolved. There were a few inconsistencies throughout the story, but my biggest pet peeve was that the author sometimes called the hero Nick instead of Nate.

A cruise on a luxurious ship, a handsome ex-Marine, moonlight strolls on the deck – it sounds like a perfect recipe for romance. However, there were some issues with the story and the writing.Read full review in the 2012 Holiday issue of InD’tale Magazine.

Great read that is mostly romance with a dash of suspense. Well written and with characters you can root for. I had great sympathy for the heroine's fear of water (scares me spit-less) and loved the hero's patience as he helped her through.Thank you Ms. Parmely for an enjoyable book
