In the first two sections, I was disappointed at Oughourlian’s reasoning. His commitment to finding mimesis in every human interaction leads him to such banal interpretations of friendship imitation as this: “friends often have the same tastes, like to go to the same places, listen to the same kind of music… Each serves as the other’s model and each imitates the other’s suggestion” (58). Really? Is it not possible that we imitate in order to belong, indeed because we see in it a path [...]

fantastic book, discovering that there is a third brain who 'intoxicate' our behavior is one thing but the really magnificent advice that one only should worry about his own garden (his own life, love to your own partner, etc.) and not to worry what's happening in your neighbor's garden, it is to say don't envy his garden, is such a wise and sage conclusion !!!
