3.5 STARSCould have been up to five stars and might be if the dialogue between characters is heavily edited. It's a great and well structured story. It's also well written the only exception is for the early dialogue between the MC's. I just don't see men in their mid 30's ever speaking like that. It was just so bizarre.

A incredibly wild ride through the stars. Totally enjoyable with good world building. jam packed with details and something new at every turn. A smooth but long read whose very end was a little disappointing.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews with a copy provided by the publisher / author for an honest review. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.)I want to start with a warning…this is one seriously long book! In my humble opinion, I think it really could have been a trilogy instead of being all bound into one book, but it made up for it because it was soooo worth reading!A little background. I had originally asked the author for a different book to review on Love Bytes, but she instead asked if we [...]

DNF. If you like evil mind games, disgusting treatment of people, Stockholm Syndrome, slaves, homophobia in one of the two MCs, then this is the book for you. I got about a third of the way through and just couldn't read it any more.

Too long, needed a lot of cutting. Not enough attention to edit details like present/past tense.

It was hard, at first, to suspend our reality and get into a universe built on a hybridized unification of the Roman, Persian and Chinese empires as if they hadn't failed and been severely muted. But, I liked the characters sufficiently to appreciate the time I got to spend with them. I was sorry to let them go, especially Julien and Jericho. 5 solid stars.

IT was a long ride.I totally recommend it!!!It's a slow start, yet somehow you don't fell it, in every page, something happen. When I first read the first 100 pages from the free sample on amazon, I was like 'what the hell is this about?' there was so much going on, yet I continued, partly because I was bored, and because I wanted to read the following smutty scene. Then I soon become interested wasn't your typical master and slave relationship.Or those BDSM novels Not that I'm complaining, they [...]

A very enjoyable sci-fi / fantasy saga from the very first pages when our 2 protags meet in a slave-market. Both characters are very well developed although I suspected the hidden secrets of our imperial exile Kai very early on especially since there seems to be abundant wealth associated with our outlaw's state of operations. The books charts how these two navigate relational waters through two distinct stages - firstly as Robin-hood like bandits tangling with the powers of the established empi [...]

Wow just wow! This book was a very long read and should probably be two separate books BUT that said it was an amazing read from beginning to end. Marie Browns writing style is enthralling and keeps your attention. You can connect with the emotions and the challenges the characters face and you find yourself as part of the story as a result. Marie if you read these a sequel would be absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Fantastic world and beautiful romance! 4.5 starsThe world this author created was utterly fantastic and riveting! The main thread of this story was the romance of Kai and Jericho and as the story builds you see the world they live in and what they have to do to survive. This world of modern day advances and magic, of slavery and discrimination will keep you reading to the end!If you're looking for erotic sexual scenes this book is not for you. If you're looking to lose yourself in a world that i [...]

Really enjoyable! The blurb really falls short. I almost didn't purchase this book because of it but it kept creeping up my recommended list & some of the reviews intrigued me.Rich world building & character development carry the reader through years of the building relationship from slave market to partners for Jericho & Kia. Magic & science interweave everything from daily appliances to space travel. Plus Space Dragons! There is a bit of proofing needed & the epilogue was di [...]
