Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm
Healey’s Cyder Farm is a Cornish, family-owned cyder farm with a team passionate about producing premium craft cyders. Dedicated to traditional craftsmanship, the Healey family takes the time to do things right. Not a motorised tree-shaker or apple-picker in sight!
The Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm is also home to Cornwall’s only distillery with a bespoke copper still located in the farm’s barn. It produces small artisan runs of Cornish Cyder Brandy and last September Healey’s released the first whiskey to be made in Cornwall for over 300 years. The farm also produces apple juices, fruit wines and jams. Healey’s range of award-winning cyders includes Cornish Rattler with its famous bite, the premium Healey’s Classic Oak Matured and Healey’s Classic Reserve, traditional Scrumpy and a range of special limited edition cyders.
At Healey’s, attention to detail is paramount and Ryan Sealey, Healey’s Head Cyder Brewer, is involved with every part of the cyder-making process. From hand-picking the apples, to pressing them in the traditional press house, to tweaking the recipe, depending on the crop’s sweetness and tannins – nothing is left to chance. This carefully crafted approach gives every opportunity for the creative juices to flow with small runs of different flavours and combinations continually being trialled. Just one recent example of this innovation is the limited edition Healey’s Classic Reserve Cyder matured in rum barrels. Amongst many other features and activities, Healey’s Cyder Farm is also home to a museum telling the story of cyder making through the ages with a collection of cyder presses dating back to the fifteenth century.
