Rock Samphire supplied in season between the end of April and the end of November. Foragers and suppliers of sustainable true Rock Samphire- which is a tasty vegetable. Delicious when cooked, it is versatile and full-flavoured. Rock Samphire was once part of the British staple diet, dying-out in Victorian times through over-picking, (replaced by the better-known salt-flavoured and short-seasoned garnish for fish - Marsh Samphire). Rock Samphire is a completely different flavour and use, currently regarded as a "novel" or "niche" food" being quietly re-discovered by adventurous chefs and foodies- when they can get hold of it! No air miles and a truly local Cornish product. Season runs late April to late Oct, even November. Steady but limited supplies available.
